We are a Canadian Group dedicated to advocacy, awareness, and education about issues surrounding companion animals. We are the voice of the animals in the pet industry.
 

  • We speak in cities around Canada to encourage government officials to improve conditions for both animals and consumers

  • We organize campaigns to raise awareness, and to ask for change from businesses and municipalities

  • We support other groups dedicated to animal rights

  • We attend events to spread awareness and educate the public about current animal rights issues

Kasey Dunn

Kasey Dunn is a proud founding member of The Social Petwork, who has worked with city staff in municipalities across the GTA. Kasey was instrumental in achieving a pet sale ban in the city of Vaughan in February 2014, and continues to work with councils in the cities of Richmond Hill and Welland in their ongoing work to improve conditions for companion animals and consumers.

Kasey enjoys working with a number of rescue organizations as a foster, transporter, and general volunteer.

Kasey graduated from Brock University with an Honours BA, and from George Brown College's prestigious actor training program. She brings her passion, public speaking skills, and social media know-how to the Social Petwork, and is happy to attend events, or speak in front of councils in any municipality to help the cause. Her home is always full with as many animals as her husband can put up with!

 

Nancy Penrose

Nancy Penrose has been an active animal advocate for a number of years. She is a dedicated member of The Social Petwork and has been a director with several other non profit organizations. Her focus is education about puppy mills, backyard breeders, and the need to ban the sale of pets in stores and retail outlets.

Nancy’s brings her extensive background in retail and commercial finance to The Social Petwork and seeks to aid pet store owners and retailers to maintain or grow their gross profit margin when converting to a new business model of featuring rescue and shelter animals in their stores. She is passionate about helping businesses adapt to the changing market, and making them successful with an adoption only model.

Nancy is a volunteer and rescue foster. She is owned by three senior rescue cats, a rescue dog and shares her busy household with a very patient and supportive family.

Jenny Storey

Jenny Storey is an enthusiastic member of The Social Petwork and in August 2014 she presented a delegation with other members to city council in Waterloo, who amended their Business Licenses bylaw to ban pet sales in stores and retail outlets. She continues to collaborate with city staff in several cities in southwestern Ontario to bring awareness to the cruelties of unethical breeding and customer protection.

 

Jenny volunteers for several animal rescue organizations by organizing and running charity and awareness events. She takes great pride in finding forever homes for the dogs she fosters, and is an animal transporter.

 

Jenny graduated from the University of Guelph with an Honours Bachelor of Arts Degree and from the University of Windsor with a Degree in Education. She brings her communication and research skills to The Social Petwork and is committed to spreading the message ‘adopt don’t shop’.

 

Angela Cowan

Angela Cowan is a dedicated member of The Social Petwork who works with city staffs and councils in several municipalities in south-western Ontario to create municipal bylaws that ban the sale of pets in stores and retail outlets. Along with other members, she presented a delegation in Waterloo, who amended their Business Licenses bylaw to ban the sales of pets in stores and retail outlets in August 2014.
Angela is very involved in educating people about puppy mills by means of peaceful protests and letter writing campaigns. She also volunteers for several rescues; fostering and re-homing many cats and dogs.  In addition she transports food and other necessities to animals on Ontario reservations.
She brings her strong networking and conversational skills to The Social Petwork and continues to champion for animals who endure abuse in the cycle of unethical breeding.
Angela was raised in Scotland where she was lucky enough to grow up surrounded by all kinds of animals before immigrating to Canada.  She lives with her very patient husband and rescue dogs.
